06: Local history, heritage & the environment

Purpose/role:

The group is an umbrella organisation to co-ordinate, explore and encourage sustainable living, as it could apply in practical terms to Wedmore and the surrounding villages

When & where: 1st Monday of the month, at The Swan at 8pm.

Purpose/role:

To promote interest in and care for the conservation, beauty and attractive features of the parish of Wedmore.

When & where: 4th Thursday in the month, January to May and September to November, at 7.30pm in the Masonic Hall.

Cost: Annual membership of £14.00 single person or £25.00 per couple. Non member – £4.00 per meeting.
Who can attend: Open to all who are interested in the aim of the society.
Support with attending : Not applicable.
Purpose/role:

To enhance the village by providing tubs of colourful flowers and shrubs, for residents and visitors to enjoy.

For members to meet socially as well as fundraise  to provide the flowers etc.

When & where: Volunteers meet on the 2nd Saturday of each month to tend to the tubs and then gather for coffee afterwards. Other events, eg a fund-raising coffee morning is held once a year as well as an AGM.

Who can attend: Anyone who is interested, but not necessarily knowledgeable about plants, can join, just need to be willing and able to tend the tubs. New members welcome.
