Let’s focus on the Mind!

(With special thanks to Sonia Fox-Lundy and Paula Beardsley (Health Coaches) for their input.)

The early months of the year can be a bad time for people’s mental health. 1st February is Time To Talk day which is being run by MIND and Rethink Mental Illness, in partnership with the Co-op. According to the information on their website,, 1 in 4 of us will experience a mental health problem in any given year. Sometimes it’s easier to tell people we’re ‘fine’ than it is to say how we really feel! The aim on this particular awareness day is that ‘everyone should feel comfortable talking about mental health – whenever they like’. Talking about mental health isn’t easy, but a conversation has the power to change lives. Our local Mind website has lots of resources and Mindline can be contacted 24 hours day, 7 days a week on 01823 276892 or 0800 138 1692. For face-to-face support how about trying our local Talking Café every Thursday in Kings Leisure Centre Cheddar from 10am to 12md? Here you will find space where local people can meet new people, make friends and chat to a Health Coach about activities, support groups and services in the community. No appointment necessary – just go along!

Other local support services:-

And don’t forget our Warm in Wedmore get-togethers, each Wednesday and Thursday from 10am to 2pm in the Masonic Hall, running until 7th March. This is a great way to stay connected with people at this time of year, to lift our spirits and to talk with people we may not yet know!
