Temporary Diversion of Patient Care to Axbridge Surgery

(Statement released by Axbridge & Wedmore Doctors Practice on Friday 20th March at 18:00)

Thank you for your understanding, patience and kindness during this unprecedented period. It is very much appreciated by all of our team.  We are currently experiencing a 50% reduction in our clinical capacity due to staff being unwell or having to self-isolate due to household members being unwell.

We are following NHS and Public Health Guidance in restricting patients coming into the surgery and doing everything we can on-line, over the telephone or via video messaging.  In order for us to continue to provide services to our patients, we have taken the decision to TEMPORARILY divert all patient care to the Axbridge site.

One reason for this is so that we can maximise the efficiency of our team who are already working at reduced capacity. We are also required to have an isolation facility for patients who are suspected as having the Covid-19 virus. Therefore, for control of infection purposes, we have to ask everyone who needs to be physically seen to come to Axbridge Surgery where we have been able to meet the requirements as set out by Public Health England.

We appreciate that this will cause difficulties for some patients and we ask that you bear with us and help us by understanding our reasons for having to take this decision. We truly are doing the best we can under very difficult circumstances which may, of course, get worse over coming weeks.
This means that, as of Monday 23 March and until further notice, Wedmore Surgery will be closed and unmanned. When the Covid-19 situation settles, we fully intend to re-open. There are absolutely no plans to close the branch site permanently. This step has been taken due to the current situation.

Please only call the surgery if you really need us for a medical reason. Our call volumes are very high and we need to keep the lines as clear as possible for patients who are unwell.
We are happy to answer questions if you really are unable to source the information you need yourself. There is lots of information on our website which is updated regularly

We really appreciate your support.

Thank you
Axbridge and Wedmore Medical Practice Team
