Let’s find out how our bodies work!

We are such complicated beings! Our mind, body, emotions are all inextricably linked together to create who we are. We have so much in common, but we are all so different – each of us is unique. For most of us, for most of the time we function well, or well enough! But sometimes things go wrong and this is when we want to be fixed! There are many different ‘fixes’ and each one has been researched, tried and tested. We can help with this research, so we can help more people find ‘fixes’. Our Future Health is an organisation, supported by the NHS and its Mission is ‘designed to help everyone live longer and healthier lives through the discovery and testing of more effective approaches to prevention, earlier detection, and treatment of diseases’. It focuses on diseases which often affect health & wellbeing in later life, for example, cancer, Alzheimer’s, heart disease, arthritis, diabetes and stroke. Our Future Health aims to be ‘the UK’s largest ever health research programme’! You can take part if you are over the age of 18 and live in the UK. This includes anyone who has a medical condition, lives with a disability or uses a wheelchair. You also receive a £10 voucher in recognition of your input! You just need to provide a blood sample, have some basic measurements taken at a local clinic and complete a health and lifestyle questionnaire. So if you would like to help them reach the 5 million people on their register, sign up here. Join the research programme | Our Future Health

Another way to take part in research is to sign up with the Be Part of Research programme. This is a free service which makes it easy to find and take part in vital health and care research across the UK. You can choose what research you take part in. Perhaps you would like to join research for a condition you have or a loved one has/had. But you can also join if you are completely healthy! This programme is lead by the National Institute for Health and Care Research. They conduct research in three main areas:- health, public health and social care. Every time someone receives treatment for a health condition, it’s because of the many people who took part in health and care research. If you think you can help too, then sign up here: Be Part of Research
