Giving to others feels good!
We all appreciate help from other people when we need it, but also it is well recognised that it is good for our wellbeing to do some giving! In Wedmore we have many opportunities to do some ‘giving’. Take a look in your new Directory, section 4 and you will find lots to choose from. For example, you could help St Mary’s as a ‘community centre’, or support local projects with Cheddar Vale Lions Club, or be a volunteer with Good Neighbours or help make Wedmore look beautiful with Wedmore in Bloom. And there’s more – what takes your fancy? To find out more about our many ‘helping’ organisations, why not come along to a special ‘open day’ on 21st March in Wedmore Village Hall. (Please see page xx for more details) Perhaps you have been helped by a volunteer and would like to say ‘thank you’ to your hero! Then you can do this too on 21st March or via the special website https://openday.wedmorehall.org.uk/volunteer-hero-message/
March is Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month
According to Ovarian Cancer Action, 7500 women receive an ovarian cancer diagnosis in the UK each year. This year the charity is 20 years old and is suggesting that people walk 100km in March to raise funds to support research into ovarian cancer, promote early detection and ‘spread the word’ about the disease. Perhaps walking 100km in March with sponsorship could be your ‘giving to others’ in March? Go to their website for details.
